How did you feel? : Fine. Perhaps a little nervous?
What was the person’s reaction? : She was very accepting, and calm. No surprise...
What did they say? : Mom told me, as long as I would be safe and happy, she loved me...
What was your relationship with the person like afterwards? : Just as close...

Since coming out, how “out” are you with your friends? : all_out
What does being out mean to you? : **Above, except Grandma. All though she finally stopped asking when I was getting married. Being out, is not hiding who I am, or who I like. Or who I like to drool over!!
What differences, if any, did your cultural background make to your experience of coming out? : Nothing cultural per se, but in my own mind, up until coming out, I always believed (or tried to convince myself) that "once I got to college" I would become normal and stop being a pervert, and find a girl and get married". That never happened.
What does the concept of the closet mean to you? : See above.
What advice would you give someone wanting to come out? : Todays world is SO MUCH different than it was even 10 or 15 years ago. The internet has made a HUGE difference in how (and when) people come out. Teens are coming out at 14 or 15 - and even though its a great and wonderful thing, it can have consequences. Kids are often too eager and don't think things through. But, it is an amazing thing when you are able to begin to accept yourself.
If you could do it all again, would you do it any differently? If so, how? : Probably would have come out in high school, instead of after.
