What did you come out as? : Gay
What other words would you use to describe yourself? : the boy next door, covered in glitter…
How old were you when you first realised your identity? : about 14
How old were you when you first told someone? : 15
Did you plan it? If so, how? : not realy, but it wasn’t all by accident, I wanted people to find out I guess
What made you choose that person to tell? : they were my closest friends
Can you remember exactly what you said? : yeh “erm, so remember you were asking the the other day if I was gay, well, I lied when I said NO”
How did you feel? : so relieved
What was the person’s reaction? : there was alot of screaming and hugging
What did they say? : that it was the good that I finally came out
What was your relationship with the person like afterwards? : It just gets better every day
What’s it like now? : we are still best friends
If you’ve experienced homophobia etc, please give an example. : just some random comments at school, nothing worth crying over
Since coming out how out are you at school? : all_out
Since coming out, how “out” are you at work? : all_out
Since coming out, how “out” are you with family? : all_out
Since coming out, how “out” are you with your friends? : all_out
What does being out mean to you? : that the person on the inside can also be the person on the outside, always
What differences, if any, did your cultural background make to your experience of coming out? : my family is rather liberal and is made up of a few artist, and a lot of love, this made it vey easy. I wasn’t the first to come out in the family, so everybody had gotton used to the idea by the time I came out
What does the concept of the closet mean to you? : being gay behind closed doors
What advice would you give someone wanting to come out? : choose the time and place, jump, chances are, its going to be fine in the end, give people time to adjust and answer all questions they have
If you could do it all again, would you do it any differently? If so, how? : no
Anything you want to add? : no mother wishes to raise a gay child, yet, any mother worth the title would take on the job without a flinch, thanx mom!
