What other words would you use to describe yourself? : Aries…that says it all!
How old were you when you first realised your identity? : 12 - 13
How old were you when you first told someone? : 16
Did you plan it? If so, how? : No, I was basically caught making out with a guy!
What made you choose that person to tell? : She’s my sister. I trust her.
Can you remember exactly what you said? : No, but just affirming that I like cock better!
How did you feel? : Not much…it was anyway time to deal with it.

At University mostly Afrikaans men distanced themselves from me.

What does being out mean to you? : Being proud of myself. Not having my sexuality define me.
What differences, if any, did your cultural background make to your experience of coming out? : Made it difficult in the sense that it clashed with Afrikaans religious principles.
What does the concept of the closet mean to you? : Very sad place.
What advice would you give someone wanting to come out? : Deal with it one step at a time. But rather sooner than later. Cropt up frustration makes you sick. There is more to life when you are honest with yourself and others.
If you could do it all again, would you do it any differently? If so, how? : No. My coming out was a liberating experience.
