How old were you when you first realised your identity? : always knew

Did you plan it? If so, how? : I kind of went through the i’m bisexual stage which. Lying to myself.
Once I told all my friends, work collegues, family.
They said-well we already knew and it was no big deal.
What made you choose that person to tell? : She was and still is my best friend
Can you remember exactly what you said? : I love women
How did you feel? : Great, maybe a little relieved.
What was the person’s reaction? : laughed, She already knew.
What did they say? : I knew all along you were and that makes no difference.
What was your relationship with the person like afterwards? : same as before. Have a beautiful accepting best friend who hasn’t go an issue. She is friends with me, all of me.
What’s it like now? : Stronger than ever.
If you’ve been outed unwillingly, who did it? : I probably got gossiped about at work. But never denied anything in the early days. But wasnt bothered about it anyway.
Im a person very open to who i am. If people don’t like it. they don’t have to know me.

What were peoples’ reactions? : I think the older generations can be very closed and some assume you are a threat and ‘might try it on’
A lot of the people i know and meet don’t have a problem with me being a lesbian and if they do. Then im  not aware.
If you’ve experienced homophobia etc, please give an example. : No. But there is always time from bigots.

What does being out mean to you? : I am publicly free. I’m relaxed with who i am.
What differences, if any, did your cultural background make to your experience of coming out? : My Parents are very old fashioned. So we don’t talk about it.
I grew up surrounded by music and art.Hanging out with liberal folk. So my world was cultured with open spirits.Working  and meeting lots if different people especially through me being a musician and songwriter is liberating
What does the concept of the closet mean to you? : I think some people feel afraid and judged.
Trapped, maybe ashamed of who they are.
Unable to tell people they know esp if they are surrounded by homophobia.

Be who you want to be. Its your life and your business what people know at the end of the day.
If you could do it all again, would you do it any differently? If so, how? : I’d have not been so scared. It took a while then once i got my first girlfriend- Life became a big big smile.
